Inktober 2026

2026.10.31
Characters: Miriel, Ivu, Aava, Olivia
License: Multiple

My favorite Inktober yet and one of my favorite art projects in general, this one was an absolute blast! My gimmick this time was designing dresses in Dressmaker and drawing them on my characters, while also practicing painting with colored inks and water. These won't be my last work using this process — it's great fun and I love how it looks :)

(Just the even-numbered days again, but with more time and effort put into them than ever.)

2. Relic

Ink drawing of Miriel the elf wearing a sparkly sleeveless dress with a long skirt.
The dress is brightly colored with red and green petal shapes around the waist,
decorated with black piping that resembles the seams in stained glass.
She's standing in front of an arched stained glass window and holding a bundle of flowers in her lap.
The character is painted with colored inks applied with a brush, while the background is left with rough lines only. The dress designed in Dressmaker

4. Cactus

Ink painting of Miriel the elf wearing a long green dress
with puffy sleeves and peachy-pink accents:
frills on the sleeves and collar, and bands around the sleeves and waist.
She's smiling and raising her arms up,
the puffy sleeves and the frills at the cuffs reminiscent of a flowering cactus,
many of which are seen behind her. The dress designed in Dressmaker

6. Ogre

Ink drawing of Miriel the elf wearing a green frilly dress
with a three-tiered skirt and similarly tiered short sleeves.
The base dress is made of a dark blueish silk,
with the frills and layers on top made of a lighter green material with a leafy print pattern.
She's standing with her hands clasped on her waist, wearing her hair in a bun,
tilting her head and looking toward the viewer with a wry smile.
There's a large tree and a rock behind her, opening into a roughly sketched view of a dense forest. The dress designed in Dressmaker
This one's a little far-fetched, but uh. "ogres have layers"

8. Stinky

Ink drawing of Miriel the elf wearing a fancy short-sleeved,
long-skirted evening gown made of white laced silk for the most part,
but with a stripe of blue sequins going up and across.
The sequined part of the skirt is a layered wavecrest pattern of little triangular pieces draped over each other.
On the waist the blue sections are connected with strings of sapphires.
The pattern is vaguely reminiscent of the mold in blue cheese.
Behind her are some rocks, above which a vista opens up of mountains and a forest between them. The dress designed in Dressmaker

10. Mystical

Ink painting of Ivu the dryad, a woman with birch bark skin, in a dark forest of birches.
She's lit by a flame held up in her hand and wearing a fancy red and orange dress echoing the theme of fire.
The dress has a halter top made of two crossing segments and a skirt with loosely hanging triangular godets added for decoration.
The top and godets have The character is painted in color, but the background is black and gray. The dress designed in Dressmaker

12. Toss

Ink drawing of Miriel the elf outdoors in the snow,
in the middle of a throwing motion with a snowball in the air having just left her hand.
She's wearing a mauve woollen coat dress with red trims and matching scarf and beanie, along with leather boots and gloves.
Behind her is a little stack of snowballs and footprints leading towards a forest of spruce. The dress designed in Dressmaker

14. Lady

Ink drawing of Aava, a pale mermaid with bob-cut hair,
wearing a silk ball gown with a low-cut halter-neck bodice and a wide multilayered skirt.
Its color is a gradient going from blue on the shoulders through purple to pink on the lowest hem.
She's underwater, cliffs of rock and shafts of light from the surface seen behind her. The dress designed in Dressmaker

16. Gangly

Ink drawing of Olivia, a faun girl with deer-like features, wearing a simple dark pink dress.
It has a heart-shaped bodice, medium-length bell sleeves and little tassels around the hem.
She's clasping her hands in front of her and looking down bashfully, blushing a little.
Behind her is a large bookcase full of books. The dress designed in Dressmaker

18. Flightless

Ink painting of Aava, a pale mermaid with black bob-cut hair,
diving down into water wearing a dress with feathers hanging from its sleeves.
Her arms are spread out, mimicking a bird, with us looking at her from below,
also seeing the water surface and the bubbles and foam in her wake.
The dress is made of three different shades of green, lighter on the front similar perhaps to a tropical bird.
The sleeves are puffed on the shoulders and there's a window exposing the chest with frilly lining across the breasts. The dress designed in Dressmaker

20. Lounge

Ink drawing of Miriel the elf lounging on her side on a sofa,
wearing a green evening gown that exposes quite a bit of skin -
the skirt is made of two overlapping parts with gaps exposing the legs,
the neckline goes very deep, and it has short butterfly sleeves.
It's decorated with yellow triangle patterns and its color fades from green to red towards the hem.
She's also wearing green thighhigh stockings and leaf-shaped gold earrings. The dress designed in Dressmaker

22. Beacon

Ink painting of Miriel the elf standing on rocks with water splashing up their sides, holding a lantern.
She's wearing tall laced boots and a red off-shoulder dress with a bow on the chest
and a long skirt that billows in the wind alongside her untied hair.
The scenery behind her is dark and cloudy, our low point of view making the sky fill most of the view.
A rocky path leads up to a lighthouse. The dress designed in Dressmaker

24. Bake

Ink drawing of Miriel the elf putting a tray of cookies in an old-timey wood-burning brick oven.
She's wearing oven mitts and a dress with an apron, short cuffed sleeves, and a long skirt with a ruffled hem.
The dress (minus the apron) is made of a patterned fabric covered in pink poppy flowers.
Behind her we see kitchen drawers and cabinets, a window (but it's too bright to see outside) and a small potted tree. The dress designed in Dressmaker

26. Zip

Ink drawing of Miriel the elf pulling up a zipper on the back of a velvet ballgown.
It has a tight off-shoulder corset top showing a lot of skin and a skirt reaching down to the floor.
It's made of a green burnout velvet with vaguely snake-like patterns, and a split in the skirt reveals a brighter green silk underskirt.
She's standing in front of a mirror, with us looking from behind, seeing her also in the mirror.
Next to her is a drawer with makeup tools, a small mirror, and a jewelry box on top of it. The dress designed in Dressmaker. It also has detached sleeves that I forgot to draw.

28. Trophy

Ink drawing of Miriel the elf standing with hands on her hips looking proud on top of a stone pillar resembling a plinth for a statue or trophy.
She's wearing a golden yellow evening gown with a mermaid skirt, puffy sleeves and a little keyhole on the chest, decorated with burgundy lace and a bow collar.
She's looking up at a flock of birds descending towards a gothic cathedral surrounded by trees. The dress designed in Dressmaker

30. Cookie

Ink drawing of Miriel the elf relaxedly leaning against the frame of a large window,
looking outside with a cookie in one hand and a cup of something warm in the other.
She's wearing a simple long dress with a v-neck and short butterfly sleeves.
It's made of a green fabric with a printed grid pattern, and the skirt is decorated with two large yellow flower shapes.
There's a wicker basket full of cookies on the windowsill,
and outside we see a snowy forest with some footprints leading towards it. The dress designed in Dressmaker
